Seat's jumbo MPV range is among the best in its class when it comes to resale value. And with a new generation model now available it's even better.

If your key fob for the seat Alhambra is able to withstand the wash cycle or a dip in the ocean or in a pool, then it's got a waterproof chip. However, don't do it often because prolonged exposure to water can increase chances of the key fob becoming damaged. If your key fob ceases to working after exposure to rain or clean tap water, take out the battery and wipe the electronic component with a towel. Dry it completely before replacing the battery. In case of exposure to salt or soapy water it is recommended that you clean the chip with isopropyl alcohol or an electronic cleaner prior to attempting to put the battery back in.
Faulty Receiver Module
If you have tried a new battery for a button and the key fob cannot be locked or unlocked, it's likely that the receiver module has found a fault. The good thing is that this is a fairly easy and cost-effective fix. You can disconnect the 12 volt battery for several minutes (first take off the negative cable and then press the horn button numerous times) to drain any residual electricity, and then connect it in reverse order e.g. positive first, then negative.
ESP Warning Light - If the ESP symbol blinks, it is normal. It means that you are driving on terrain that has poor traction. This could be due to gravel, snow or surface water. If the ESP light is always on, it means that there is a flaw in the system. This can be identified by using an iCarsoft i908 seat OBD code reader kit. It will provide you with a a detailed fault description.
Dead Coin Battery

A dead battery for the coin is one of the most common causes for the seat alhambra keys to cease to function. The key fob is powered by a tiny button-cell battery. It should be replaced by a new battery that has the same size, voltage and specifications as the original. When replacing the battery on the key fob, remove the metal clips and make sure that the contacts on the key fob are clean and free of corrosion.
If the key fob has been exposed water, such as rain or soapy water, it's recommended that you take the battery off and clean the electronic chip with alcohol or an electronic cleaner prior to inserting the new battery. The chip can be permanently damaged by moisture. If the key fob is still not working after replacing the battery, it may be necessary to replace the entire key fob.
Faulty Receiver Module
If your key fob stopped working after replacing the battery, but it did not work, or if it stopped working in a sudden manner, your receiver module could have experienced a malfunction. The receiver module takes the radio frequency signals from your remote keyfob, and transforms them into electrical signals that are then processed by other modules within the car.
If the receiver module has a problem it will not take any commands from your remote key fob. In this instance the dealer will have to reprogramme your key fob and install a new receiver.
The key fob has rubber seals that stop water from getting into the electronic chip inside. If you immerse your key fob into salted or soapy ocean water, the chips inside may be damaged. You can try cleaning the chip by using isopropyl Alcohol to rub it or electronic cleaner, however in the event that your key fob does not work after this, you'll have to purchase a new one.
If the keys have been successfully paired, but your receiver module isn't working, you can try to restart all the electronics that are on board by disconnecting the battery with 12 volts for a couple of minutes. Then reconnect the battery in reverse order (negative cable first before positive). This resets all the electronic components on board and restore their functionality.
Electronic Chip Faulty
The key fob is equipped with a small electronic chip that transmits a signal to the receiver module every time the key is used. If this signal does not match the one recorded by the car the immobilizer will stop the engine and prevent the vehicle from starting. However, if the key fob isn't functioning and you are unable to reprogram it this could be due to a malfunctioning chip.
The chip inside the key fob isn't permanent to the device and might have to be replaced to function again. This can be done by taking the key fob away from its housing, and using a needle or pin to contact each metal retaining clip. If the clips are corroded, or damaged, you'll need to replace them to allow the remote control to work. Make sure any replacement batteries have the same voltage, size, and specification as the original.
